About Millcreek Gardens LLC……
Millcreek Gardens LLC was established in 1978 by Ohio State University grads George and Lynda Pealer. The nursery began as a woody ornamental and perennial flower nursery, but by 1982, the woody plants were discontinued in favor of herb plants, in which Lynda had a strong interest. Today, the nursery specializes in herbaceous perennials, herbs, and ornamental grasses grown in containers. We sell plants on a wholesale basis to independent garden centers, landscape contractors, etc. within a 250-mile radius of Columbus, OH. Our goal is to produce the highest quality perennials and herbs available, provide outstanding customer service, and provide a safe, fun and educational workplace for our employees.
Currently, Millcreek Gardens LLC employs 15 full-time employees, and up to 35 additional seasonal workers. The staff includes 14 Horticulture or plant science graduates, who all share in the day-to-day growing responsibilities. Our experienced staff produces and sells over 1,300,000 containers of quality perennials, herbs, grasses, and annuals each year.
Our most popular product is our 1-Quart perennial shipped 12 per flat, of which we grow over 460 varieties. Our herb list includes over 140 varieties grown in 3" pots, shipped 16 per flat. We grow 450 varieties of our IMPACT perennials, which are true 1.0 Gallon containers, 22 varieties of 1.6 Gallon Paeonia, and also over 55 varieties of ornamental grasses, grown in 1-Quart, 1.0-Gallon, and 2.0-Gallon containers. Most varieties are available during the entire growing season, with the exception of herbs, which we stock from March through early summer.
We are considered a "traditional" perennial grower, as about 70% of our perennial plants are grown outdoors in the summer months and overwintered in minimum heat polyhuts. The balance of our plants are grown in greenhouses in spring or outdoors during the warm months. Our polyhuts are outfitted with overhead irrigation, heaters, and ventilation equipment. We cover the polyhuts with clear polyethylene film in November, and uncover them during April. Our busiest shipping season is from March through June, and we make deliveries until early November. Deliveries are made on our own trucks, using shipping racks.
In addition to our website, you will find us at the venues listed below. We can mail our comprehensive wholesale catalogue at your request. We also compile and send a weekly Availability List called "The Honor Roll" by FAX or e-mail to our customers from mid-March through September. "The Honor Roll" may also be viewed on our website by clicking on 'Availability' while on the home page. In addition, we hold an Open House in the fall of each year to allow our customers to view our new crops, facilities, and our perennial display garden.
