Sage
Sage was once believed to have many healing properties. In today’s society, sage is used many other ways. Culinary use
is the most popular reason why we use this herb. Aromatic, ornamental and cosmetic are additional benefits to this well-rounded
herb. For culinary use, sage leaves have a lemony, camphor-like flavor and are tremendous for beef, poultry, pork and fish.
Vegetables also benefit from this herb’s fabulous flavor. Other sages that have a fruity flavor to their leaves are best
suited to flavor cold drinks. You could also use their fresh leaves and flowers for an
aromatic garnish. Other sages just like
to strut their stuff with their beautiful, multi-colored foliage that will add a blast of splash to your garden. Sage is also
useful for scenting perfumes and soaps. It stimulates the skin when applied through lotions or herbal baths. Sages prefer
well-drained moderately rich soil and full sun. It was chosen as the 2001 IHA Herb of the Year!
