Phlox paniculata
Garden Phlox  (Zone 4)
Garden phlox is a classic indispensable perennial that every garden should have! These wonderful plants are known for their long Mid to Late-season bloom period. Their flowers are very fragrant and are great for cutting. Most varieties are tall, growing between 2' to 6’, which makes them a great choice for the back of the perennial border. They require a full sun site and average well-drained garden soil for good performance. Occasionally some garden phlox cultivars will develop powdery mildew. A full sun site, good air movement, and morning watering, will help prevent mildew from developing.  For 2007 we offer the following cultivars of the Eastern U.S. native Phlox paniculata:

‘Becky Towe’ (PP12908) - The foliage is the highlight of this selection and is a combination of creamy white , yellows, and dark green and remains attractive throughout the growing season. The flowers that appear in Mid-season are rosy-pink with a deeper eye-zone and as with everything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, contrasts nicely with the foliage. Grows to 30” tall and from our experience is fairly mildew resistant.

The leaves of 'E. B. Anderson' are long and narrow with silvery-white spots mottling the foliage. The clump grows to 12" tall.
